Amos – L 2 Calamities & God’s Judgment

“Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you,  Prepare to meet your God, O Israel.”, Amos 4:12

Will the nations continue to ignore God and suffer the consequence or will they repend and experience God’s bless?  Interesting with each description of impending judgment, is there any reason for hope?

Yes, if we will turn to God, He will bless us.  Regardless of what we have done, His mercies are new every morning!

Enjoy the music to compliment & edify you & your time of study.

Music – They Will Know Us by Our Love

Spoken Word – Why I Hate Religion

Last Week of Lord, I Want to Know You

We are at the end of our journey …discovering the Names of God (at least some of them).  I am always saddened at the close of a study for two reasons.  The first, because the study is so rich in discovery…discovery of knowing my God more.  I love lingering over what I have learned.  But I do know with the next study intimacy with my Lord will only grow deeper.  The second reason is we have had rich fellowship centered around the Word of God for those of you have joined me online.

The music selection for this closing session of this study is a little longer but oh, so rich in communing with our God through song.  I trust these songs will bless you as much as they do me.

Til next time….And those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee; for Thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee.  Psalm  9:10

Lord, I Want to Know You!

Week 4

Names of God

Jehovah & Jehovah-Jireh

Jehovah, our self-existent One                                                                                                                     You who possess essential life, who am I that You are mindful of me?

Something to think about…He needs & wants us because He is more than Jehovah…              He desires to meet the needs of those He created inn His own image!  Isn’t it neat to know that He becomes our provider, our shepherd, the One who sanctifies us… In Genesis 22:1-19 we looked at not only love, obedience & worship…we saw that Abraham knew his God by saying Who would provide a sacrifice.  We know that Abraham was very familiar that God was able to provide, to keep His promises because of God’s covenant He made with Abraham of a son, Isaac.  In verse 13 we see Abraham “observing” God providing…Abraham raised his eyes & looked, he didn’t stay focused on “the problem”.  We see that he even looked behind himself & saw the ram caught in the thicket…& lastly he took action, he went & took the ram & offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son!    What we learn from our observation at taking this second look is to always be on a God-hunt as Abraham was.

An idea for the New Year … starting a God-hunt journal!

Our music this week includes:

My Creator King, Jehovah Jireh, Who Am I that You are Mindful of Me?

The Names of God

Week 1

“Some boast in chariots, and some in horses; but we will boast in the name of the lord”

Psalm 20:7

As Kay says in our study…What do I mean when I say, “boast in the name of our God”?  In the Hebrew language the phrase to boast in means “to have confidence in, to trust in..”  Therefore, to boast in God’s name means to have confidence in His name.  In biblical times a name represented a person’s character.  God’s name represents His character, His attributes, His nature.  To know His name is to know Him.  To boast in His name is to have confidence in who He is!

We were asked if our heart was troubled…

Of course it is, we live in precarious times…

But we can know where to run & to whom…
